This list attempts to organize all the missions in the Commandos series in chronological order, allowing you to experience the ultimate playthrough!
Notes have been added where necessary to explain why a certain mission was placed in a specific spot. In some cases, the mission's placement was based on the most probable timeline. In other cases, it was placed in the least improbable timeline (for example, considering travel distances between mission locations).
In any case, enjoy!

Remember how I said I wouldn't include Commandos: Strike Force in this list? I lied! Honestly, drop Kalypso Media a message on Discord (join the server) and ask for the game to be released on Steam! All missions in the game take place in 1942, by the way, spread across 3 campaigns. It's good fun. |

1942 |
Please note that Commandos 3 doesn't give specific dates for its missions. We must rely on other clues to estimate the period. These 3 missions, which form a connected series of events, take place in both Stalingrad and Berlin. The aesthetics of the latter's map provide a clear indication of the most likely period for these events. While Stalingrad typically sees snowfall earlier in the winter season, it is usually not until December that Berlin experiences heavy snowfall. Therefore, these missions most likely take place after December 3rd, 1942. |

|
Spring, 1944 |
This mission is set in Haiphong, a major port city in northern Vietnam. In this region, spring typically lasts from late February through April. The ship's departure in this mission does not align with historical events however. In reality, the Shinano was commissioned in the fall of 1944. |
|
Commandos 2: Men of Courage |
|
Spring, 1944 |
This bonus mission takes place aboard the aircraft carrier that the Commandos boarded in The Giant of Haiphong. While it's unclear whether the Commandos stayed under the radar for a while before taking action, the mission follows directly after Mission 7. |

Commandos 3: Destination Berlin |
|
1944 |
These 6 missions play out in succession as part of the Central Europe campaign. The campaign briefing states: "We have received intelligence that the Nazis are attempting to move priceless works of art from occupied France to Germany ahead of the imminent Allied invasion". With Allied bombing intensifying and the invasion looming in early 1944, there was an increased urgency to move and hide looted art. Despite this information given to us, pinpointing the exact timeframe of these missions remains difficult. However, the briefing provides us with another clue: "Units from the Wehrmacht are protecting the area, but it is also being reinforced by elements from the 1st Division of the Waffen SS and by the Gestapo." Historical records indicate that for the majority of March, the 1st Division of the Waffen SS remained stationed in Germany. It wasn't until April and May that they were deployed to France to reinforce the Atlantic Wall defenses in the north and assist in other operations, including securing looted art transports. Since reinforcing the Atlantic Wall would have been prioritized by high command, it is likely these events took place before May 15th, 1944. |

Commandos 3: Destination Berlin |
|
Night of June 4-5, 1944 |
These three missions from the Normandy campaign revolve around Operation Overlord, better known as D-Day. Notably, Cripple Nazi Support takes place during the night, Destroy the Warships occurs during the daytime and Storm the Beach is set on D-Day itself.
One might think that Cripple Nazi Support occurs on the night of June 5-6, given that the Sapper in the narrative says: "In a few hours Operation Overlord will hit these shores and this area will support the beaches' defences". However, since D-Day (June 6) hasn’t begun yet in the next mission, Destroy the Warships (which occurs during the day), it’s likely the Sapper was unaware that D-Day was postponed by 24 hours. Therefore, it’s most probable that the night mission, Cripple Nazi Support, takes place on the night of June 4-5. |

Between June 19-26, 1944 |
The mission briefing provides a historical clue by mentioning that "during the week of the 19th of June, violent storms hit the Channel" and that "the taking of Cherbourg is vital". Cherbourg, a key port city in Normandy, was liberated by the Allies on June 26th, 1944. |

|
Between June 19-26, 1944 |
This bonus mission is a direct continuation of Saving Private Smith and involves fending off a large enemy assault on the town square. |
